The springtime rain along with the pollen in the air has brought the classic argument of contacts versus glasses has made its way to Patterson Mill. The pollen in the air can make wearing contacts uncomfortable and the rainy weather of spring can make seeing out of glasses more difficult.

Glasses can become blurry and hard to see out of when it rains.

This creates a problem for students such as Gavin Chestnut who said, “I hate it so much. It’s really hard to tell where you are going when it is raining and you are wearing glasses.”

However, contacts are not always the best solution. For people that have pollen allergies the spring can be a tough time. Your eyes work extra hard to produce tears and mucus to keep your eyes clean and the extra tears and mucus can create a buildup in your contacts. This buildup can create pain and discomfort according to Primary Eye Care.

Freshman Diane Vik explained, “Glasses are just more comfortable for me but do what makes you happy.” Most of the students at Patterson Mill agree that people should be able to do what they want and what works for them.

Shelby Young, a freshman at Patterson Mill. She said, “Glasses can be irritating when you sweat and move around a lot they can slide around and be annoying.”

Gavin Chestnut agrees with Shelby when he explained, “contacts are better because it makes life much easier because even though they take longer to put in and take out it’s worth it because they are more comfortable and you can see better in your peripherals.”

In the end, contacts and glasses were both popular. The Huskies feel everyone should just do what makes them happy and is most comfortable to them.
